1-Tb/s large girth LDPC-coded coherent optical OFDM transmission over 1040-km standard single-mode fiber

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate 1-Tb/s CO-OFDM transmission over 1040-km standard single-mode fiber using 50% overhead girth-12 LDPC-coded 16-QAM. More than 4-dB improvement in OSNR sensitivity is achieved over conventional 4-QAM while maintaining the same spectral efficiency.
