Abstract

A sub-adult cultured blue shrimp, Penaeus stylirostris (Crustacea: Decapoda) possessed a prominent papilliform tumor-like growth that protruded from the mid-dorsal surface of its carapace. Subsequent study showed the growth not to be a true tumor, but to be a hernia of the hepatopancreas and associated organs. The unusual lesion was probably the result of a puncture wound.
