Absorption spectra of hemoglobin with intermediate oxygenation

Abstract

Oximetry assumes that absorption spectra of hemoglobin depend linearly on oxygenation and is thereforetheweighted average of the fullyoxygenated and de-oxygenated hemoglobin spectra. We demonstrate how intermediately oxygenated hemoglobin spectra change nonlinearly.
