Abstract

Singlemode and multimode Ag+-Na+ exchanged channel waveguides have been formed in germanate glass. The mode profiles and propagation losses of these channel waveguides at 1.55μm have been measured. The measured propagation loss is < 2dB/cm in channel waveguides.
