Amplification, absorption, lossless propagation of femtosecond pulses in semiconductor amplifiers

Abstract

Semiconductor Maxwell-Bloch equations are numerically solved to study light propagation in semiconductor amplifiers. The equations are solved in the limit that the input pulse spectrum is totally in the gain region. Possibility of lossless propagation and even absorption in semiconductor amplifiers is predicted for femtosecond pulses.
