Abstract

Various methods applied to eliminate bubbles from glassmelts are reviewed. This paper reports in some details the dissolution rates of carbondixode bubbles in a soda-lime melt. An analytic expression for the bubble radius as a function of time, was obtained. The effects of surface tension on the dissolution process are included, a factor ignored by many previous investigators.
