Capacity achieving signal constellation diagram of fiber-optic channel

Abstract

We describe a method to determine the optimum signal constellation diagram of arbitrary fiber-optic channel. The numerical results indicate that the optimized signal constellation has discrete amplitude and non-circular phase.
