Abstract

A differential wax-wane servo method for optical data storage applications is reported, and its performance studied by a scalar diffraction model. The advantages of this technique over single wax-wane focus servo method are 2 times higher gain, better lock-on range, and 10 times better linearity with respect to rms deviation.
