Abstract

A method to maintain high contrast of the interference pattern in an atom interferometer, while investigating large de Broglie wave phase shift, was discussed. An engineered conterphase was applied in the method to compensate the dependence of an interaction induced phase on the atoms' velocity. The method aided in precision measurements of atomic polarizability. It also aided in restoring contrast in any atom interferometer that was subject to velocity dependent phase shift.
