Effect of thermal annealing on elastic properties of Ag/Pd superlattice films

Abstract

We report a 50 % increase in the shear elastic constant c55 in Ag/Pd superlattice films upon thermally annealing as measured by Brillouin light scattering. X-ray diffraction studies show that this increase is due to intermixing of the Ag and Pd layers.
