Entangling dipole-dipole interactions for quantum logic with neutral atoms

Abstract

The creation of entanglement via resonantly induced dipole-dipole interactions between atoms in tightly confining traps was addressed. The goal was to establish some general features that can be applied in a variety of settings. Three different two-qubit logic protocols were considered to demonstrate the flexibility available for implementing quantum logic. Finally, the figure of merit for each, due to spontaneous emission, was estimated.
