Abstract

Description of the Data Base Description Language is used to generate the schema, which is the logical description of the data base. The application programs access the data base by calling subroutines which are part of the Data Base Command System. These commands perform the necessary data manipulation on the data base and provide all the bookkeeping tasks for the links and pointers within the data base. Design, implementation and operating experience with the Data Base Management System are discussed.
