High power vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting lasers and their applications

Abstract

In this paper we present the development and demonstration of multi-watts high-brightness vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VECSELs). Over 10 W TEM00 continuous-wave (CW) output power with high efficiency is demonstrated. Tunable multi-watts VECSELs with over 20 nm tuning range and narrow linewidth are achieved. Potential applications of tunable VECSELs are introduced.
