High resolution measurements on the infrared absorption spectrum of HBr

Abstract

Wavelengths of 39 lines in the 1-0 band, 43 lines in the 2-0 band, and 27 lines in the 3-1 band of HBr81 were precisely measured. From these lines and Gordy's microwave data very accurate molecular constants for HBr81 were obtained. Isotope differences of HBr79HBr81 for the same three bands were also measured and were shown to agree with the values calculated from mass spectroscopic data.
