Abstract

Problems associated with the in-situ leaching of uranium are considered. Specifically, the kinetics of UO//2 dissolution in ammoniacal carbonate solutions were investigated with hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant. Also, the effects of hydrogen peroxide concentration, total carbonate concentration and pH were studied. For similar conditions, the rate of dissolution was considerably faster with hydrogen peroxide than with oxygen.
