Integration of aerial video and satellite image data for mapping land cover in Africa

Abstract

Multispectral video and 35mm photography were used to map rangeland land-cover and reclamation efforts in Niger. A supervised classification map of a multispectral SPOT scene of the area was prepared. The maps derived from both the satellite and airborne data sources were compared in a Geographic Information System for the purpose of assessing the utility of 20 meter resolution satellite data in delineating land-cover classes in a rangeland setting. -from Authors
