Investigation of certain diffraction effects in a double-layer optical disk

Abstract

Computer simulations and experimentations were carried out to study the diffraction of the incident beam from the grooved structure of the first layer unto the second layer of a double layer optical disk. The cross-talk between focus error signal (FES) curve obtained from the two layers of the disk was also examined. Good qualitative agreement has been obtained between simulations and measurement.
