Abstract

The authors provide a framework to analyze the communication activities of the managers, discuss some of the problems inhibiting the growth of EMS (electronic mail systems) in organization, and present functionality of knowledge-based mail systems (KMS) to expand the role of EMS in organizations. The architecture and components of the prototype Executive Communication System (EXECOMS), which is based on the functionality of KMS, are presented to illustrate the support of KMS functions.
