Measurement of one-particle correlations and momentum distributions for trapped 1D gases

Abstract

Results are presented that highlight the difference between the momentum distributions for Fermi and Bose gases. In particular, it is shown that the central peak characteristic of a Tonks gas gets sharper as N increases, whereas the fermionic momentum distribution broadens with increasing N.
