Measurements of the nonlinear optical response of semiconductors with intense 10µm laser pulses

Abstract

We measure four-wave mixing efficiency and nonlinear absorption in GaAs, Ge, and ZnSe using a GW/cm2 CO2 laser. At high fields the nonlinear optical response can be enhanced almost 100x by decreasing the beat frequency.
