Abstract

Improved images from the Viking missions reveal many features, including large-scale sinuous channels, streamlined forms and evidence of ponding. Rejecting other agents of erosion, Baker concludes that these features can only be explained by a model that invokes vast quantities of flowing water. Ice-rich permafrost is considered to be the source of the water. Valley networks are morphometrically similar to terrestrial and simulated sapping networks.-from Editor
