Abstract

The nonlinear amplification process of two-dimensional wave packets in a laminar, incompressible boundary layer on a flat plate is investigated numerically using the complete Navier-Stokes equations. The results of our calculations display several distinct nonlinear phenomena that are similar to those observed in experimental investigations of three-dimensional wave packets.
