Abstract

Devised is a novel architecture that would exploit the advantages of optics for performing word-parallel and bit-parallel equivalence and relative magnitude searches at database tables in constant time. Encouraging preliminary results have been achieved in the experimental optoelectronic implementation of the associative processing portion of this architecture. Associative processing is advantageous for performing symbolic computing tasks.
