Optimal signal constellation design for nonlinear chromatic dispersion optical channel

Abstract

In this paper, we propose an optimal signal constellation design algorithm suitable for the coherent optical nonlinear chromatic dispersion channels. The algorithm is a extended version of previously proposed algorithm for self phase modulation channel. Simulation results show significant improvement of bit error rate performances compared to the standard quadrature amplitude modulation format.
