Pattern selection in extended periodically forced systems: A continuum coupled map approach

Abstract

The vibrated granular layers were investigated by continuum coupled maps (CCM). A CCM model was presented with the consideration of dimensional analysis and the symmetries underlying the systems. The analysis of pattern selection in CCM models was presented by a truncated model. A procedure for the analysis of these models was also suggested.
