A microscopic theory- of LO-phonon assisted photoluminescence in semiconductors is presented. In order to systematically describe Coulomb and light matter interaction, a cluster-expansion scheme is employed. The carrier phonon coupling is treated non-perturbatively within the polaron picture. Luminescence equations are derived, which produces phonon sidebands to arbitrary oder.
