Physics and simulation of semiconductor lasers

Abstract

This talk reviews the physics of the semiconductor-laser gain medium. The optical and electronic properties of quantum-confined semiconductor heterostructures are discussed and nonequilibrium simulations of quantum-well and quantum-dot laser systems are presented.
