Power efficient LDPC-coded modulation for free-space optical communication over the atmospheric turbulence channel

Abstract

We describe a power efficient transmission scheme based on LDPC-coded modulation. This technique is suitable for use in hybrid RF/microwave-free-space optical communications operating under the strong atmospheric turbulence, and provides an excellent coding gain.
