Quantum Pendellösung in Atom Diffraction by a Light Grating

Abstract

We calculate the Bragg scattering of a two‐level atom from a quantized standing‐wave light field. The granular nature of the radiation field is shown to produce collapse and revivals in the atom diffraction and to lead to a quantum version of the Pendellösung.
