Resonant waveguide-grating switching device with nonlinear optical material

Abstract

A dielectric guided-mode resonance filter (GMRF) combined with nonlinear optical material was developed for modulating the transmitted and reflected light fields. GMRF consists of a grating switching device and a resonant waveguide structure, allowing diffracted light to couple to a mode of the waveguide. The theory, device design and analysis, and performance are fully discussed.
