Shape versus volume: Making large flat extra dimensions invisible

Abstract

The shape moduli associated with large extra dimensions was shown to have a dramatic effect on the corresponding Kaluza-Klein spectra. The phenomenological implications of the shape moduli were discussed by focusing on the simple case of flat, two-dimensional torodial compactification. The mass gap was shown to be increased by an arbitrary factor under certain circumstances. Observations were used to alleviate many of the experimental bounds on theories with large extra spacetime dimensions.
