Short-range correlations and the intermittency phenomenon in multihadron rapidity distributions

Abstract

We show that the increase of bin-averaged factorial moments with decreasing size of the rapidity bin y (the so-called intermittency phenomenon) can be understood on the basis of conventional short-range correlations and a simple linked-pair Ansatz for higher-order correlations.
