Tapered fiber bundles for high power applications

Abstract

A method of brightness enhancement for fiber combiners is discussed. The enabling condition is low launched-mode fraction of the input fiber modal capacity. Fiber bundle preparation methods for end-pumping as well as cladding-pumping are described.
