Abstract

Arterial vasoconstriction is an important physiological process in regulating blood pressure, and is involved in pathologies. The isolation of arteries from rats and mice, as well as the measurement of vascular tension in an ex vivo preparation, is an important method in studying the physiology of arteries and the pathophysiology associated with arterials. Three major methods to measure vascular tension are organ bath, wire myograph, and pressurized arterial myograph. The major method to measure vascular remodeling is by observing the zero-stress state of an artery.
