Three-dimensional polarization ray tracing, retardance

Abstract

The retardance associated with a three-by-three polarization ray tracing matrix P is analyzed. A method to separate the geometrical transformation from the "physical" retardance is presented using a nonpolarizing ray tracing matrix Q.
