Ultrafast all-optical polarization spin switching in resonant photonic bandgap structures

Abstract

A spin-based polarization switch is demonstrated utilizing a Bragg-spaced quantumwell structure that exhibits pulsewidth limited switching speeds, contrast ratios on the order of 3,000:1, and throughputs of ∼50% with complete sample recovery.
